1. Describe your favorite scene in your your book and tell us why its your favorite.
The vivid colors of the coral reef return as dawn light reaches through the water.
Scree, an undersea shape-shifter, is faced with a seemingly impossible problem.
She stretches the worry out of her arms and says, "What will be, will be. And then I'll fix it."
2. Which of your characters do you relate to the most (or) who is your favorite character and why?
Arak, my dragon hero, and Scree, my undersea heroine, are equally favorites.
Arak has a willingness to look beyond and see the possibilities.
He's insecure and bullied but grows with the story, learning to use his unique abilities
and how to make practical plans from dreams.
Scree is a fearless Healer who challenges convention whenever it conflicts
with what should be done. She never gives up.
3. “Story” has always been the center of all human cultures.
What does “story” mean to you?
Lord of the Rings has great legends that add depth to the story.
I write science fantasy to share stories that grow in my mind,
with characters who speak to me. Dragons have ancient legends,
are allied with an undersea world, and have a dangerous quest.
BIO:
J.S. Burke is author of The Dragon Dreamer series and other books, layered for readers 9 to 99.
She has worked as an artist, chemist, writer, and as a marine biologist,
studying creatures of the dark abyss and diving on coral reefs.
Burke has published five marine research papers, two "Crystal Books"
(chemistry activity books with crystal kits), an art/science activity/coloring book,
and two science fantasy novels.
